Giza Pyramids Complex

The complex has been standing for 4000 years, making it one of the world’s oldest complete monuments. The Giza complex includes three major pyramids, six smaller pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, which houses the afterlife.

The Great Pyramid of Giza

Within the compound, the Great Pyramid of Khufu will be your first stop. It is one of the world’s largest constructions and the final surviving structure of the Ancient World’s Seven Wonders. The building dates back to 2580 BC, making it more than 4500 years old. It took 20 years to construct, using 2,300,000 2.5-ton limestone stones and a staff of 100,000 unpaid skilled craftsmen. Its height of 147 meters (481 feet) rendered it the world’s tallest structure for 3800 years, until the completion of Lincoln Cathedral in England in 1311. Due to its complicated interior relative to its scale, the pyramid has been surrounded by riddles and fringe ideas for millennia.

The Great Sphinx of Giza

The Sphinx was cut out of single limestone rock and is 73 meters (240 feet) tall and 19 meters (66 feet) wide. It is shaped like the Sphinx, a mythological monster with the body of a lion and the head of a man, King Khafre, to signify knowledge and force. It is known in Egypt as Abu Al-Hawl, which means “Father of Terror” in Arabic.

The Valley Temple

The Mummification procedure was carried out in the Valley Temple. The valley was built during the reign of the previous kingdom (2686 2134 BC). Memphis City

Memphis was the first formal capital of Ancient Egypt, founded by King Menes to be the lifeblood of the two regions after Egypt’s union 4500 years ago.
